Technology
When you work with Dr. Salvatore Indelicato for your orthodontic treatment, you benefit from an orthodontist who uses some of the industry’s latest technology. This technology improves your treatment process and your results, giving you better results and a better overall experience when you come for orthodontic treatment. Here are some examples of the way we use technology to make your experience better.
Digital X-Rays
Orthodontics requires accurate imaging to plan your treatment. We offer fully digital X-rays to streamline your appointments. Not only do these give you your images in as little as 30 seconds, but they also reduce your radiation exposure by as much as 90%. Safer, faster, and more accurate make digital X-rays the right choice for your treatment. With digital X-rays, you get answers quickly and with less risk to your health.
Advanced Sterilization Procedures
Today’s patients are more aware of germs and health than ever before. We understand this, and we are prepared to keep you safe when you visit our office. Because orthodontic care is, by nature, in your mouth, you want confidence that the tools and exam areas you utilize are sanitary. We use advanced sterilization techniques before, during, and after every appointment to keep our area clean. All of our instruments pass through a dedicated sterilization area where they are heat sterilized, and every staff member has appropriate vaccinations, including Hepatitis B, to add to your protection.
iTero Element Scanner
Traditionally, orthodontic care required the use of putty impressions to measure your teeth and plan your treatment. The trays that hold the putty are bulky, and the putty itself is sticky and tastes bad. As an alternative, Salvatore Indelicato’s orthodontic team in Staten Island, NY, uses the iTero Element Scanner to take three-dimensional digital images of your teeth and bite. Using these images, we create a 3-D model of your teeth to plan your treatment. You can also see the model on our computer so you can decide the best treatment options to get your optimal results. We can use these three-dimensional scans to create customized bracket trays or Invisalign aligners, speeding up your treatment process.
The way we capture the images with the iTero Element Scanner is fairly simple. A small, handheld device fits inside your mouth and takes the images. Many patients find this to be more comfortable than traditional putty impressions, and it is faster, too. You can see your scans the same day we take them.
Benefits of iTero Technology
One of the reasons we invested in the iTero system is because of the many benefits to our patients. These include:
Reliability: Digital scans are more accurate and reliable than putty molds. They capture images in color, can identify gum and tooth tissue, and have an automatic backup to the cloud so there is never a risk of losing the data your orthodontist needs.
Speed: Digital scans can be ready to view the same day we take them. This speeds up your treatment planning so we can start treatment more quickly.
No Need to Redo: Sometimes, traditional putty molds would not come out properly, and you would have to have them redone. This doesn’t happen with iTero. If we do need a rescan, we can do it the same day you have your original scans taken.
Cleanliness: No messy, sticky putty is needed with iTero, making the entire process cleaner and, potentially, more sanitary for our patients.
Invisalign compliance: If you are a good candidate for Invisalign treatment, the iTero scanning system is compatible with the tray creation process. We can use it to plan both Invisalign and traditional braces.
Keep in mind that sometimes, even with iTero technology, we may still need traditional impressions. But for most patients, iTero and its accurate 3D modeling are all that’s required in order to plan orthodontic treatment successfully.
Digital Simulations
Using our digital X-rays and iTero system, we are able to provide realistic simulations of our orthodontic plan. You can visually see the improvement in your alignment and bite on the screen, helping you understand the goal of treatment. Should we need to make an adjustment to your treatment plan, we can show you what that would look like on the screen. Realistic, real-time simulations build excitement about your treatment and help you visualize the end goal. This can be particularly helpful with young patients who may not want to embrace the braces journey. Seeing what their teeth could look like can help get them on board with the process.
An Orthodontist Dedicated to You
One of the reasons we invest in the latest technology is because of our dedication to our patients. Dr. Indelicato wants each patient to have the best possible outcome and a positive patient experience. Using technology helps us achieve both goals.
